Rabi'a

A lone blossoming tree rooted in moonlit desert sand beneath a starlit sky and a slender crescent moon, with dunes rolling to the horizon.

Rabi'a of Basra wrote of a love that asked for nothing: not reward, not escape, only nearness. This original work brings her voice from the eighth-century desert into the present room: spare, moonlit, contemplative.

Poster for Rabi'a: a woman in flowing robes lifts her hands in prayer before a radiant gold sun-disc, gold flowering branches rising through the darkness beside her.
